Re: [10GMMF] Channel Model -Task 2 - strawman standard link fo r 4th August conference call - Time variation & modal noise

Jonathan,

OFS also supports inclusion of a 4 connection model. 4 connections have often been deployed in links having a cross connect is at each end, or in FTTD architectures with cross connect in the equipment room, interconnect in the floor closet, and interconnect at the desk.

Jonathan,

Regarding the questions posed:

o        Corning Cable Systems has always favored 4 connector pair in the default physical link

o        No position yet on w/c set of offsets

o        I think we need to understand both link lengths since our objectives include both.

Cheers,

Steve

Subject: [10GMMF] Channel Model -Task 2 - strawman standard link for 4th August conference call - Time variation & modal noise

Time variation &  modal noise studiers

We agreed that it would be useful to have a standard link for modeling

and experimental purposes: Here is a slide with straw-man standard link

with characteristics which are for discussion and comment in Wednesday's

channel model-task 2 teleconference

(The slide follows a proposal from Aronson and Fiedler )

To be determined:

Is 4 connectors too many?

What would be a reasonable worst case series of offsets ?

220m and/or 300m fibre ?

Any and all comments from the task force welcome at any time !

best wishes

Jonathan
