Breakout Functionality

http://www.ieee802.org/3/400GSG/public/adhoc/app/dambrosia_app_01_13_1030.pdf

·         On Slide #8 it was pointed out that there are other cabling efforts underway.  Jack Jewell agreed to send D’Ambrosia information

·         Discussion regarding whether other efforts could be started due to breakout functionality.  Chair used 4x100G as an example.  While the group might agree to enabling a 4x100G breakout, any efforts to do a new 100G PMD would require a new CFI.  The example of the 40G 40km CFI prior to being done in 802.3bm was cited.

·         This discussion moved onto examples of 25G or 50G lane rates, would the group consider a 25G or 50G MAC.  The chair noted that while the group might make decisions that would enable such a solution, like the 100G PMD discussed above, it was his opinion a new CFI would be required.

·         D’Ambrosia asked any individuals interested in supporting presentation to contact him.

Chair requested any individuals interested in hosting webex/ call to contact him.
