[802.3_DIALOG] IEEE 802 Next Gen Workshop

This email is to announce that an IEEE 802 Next Gen Workshop will be held on Wednesday 3 November 2021 from 20h00 to 21h30 UTC (13h00 to 14h30 PDT, 16h00 to 17h30 EDT, 20h00 to 21h30 GMT, 21h00 to 22h30 CET, 01h30 to 03h00 IST, 04h00 to 05h30 CST, 05h00 to 06h30 JST). The Workshop Goals are to (a) Provide a platform for IEEE 802 groups to exchange information on their next-gen activities and (b) Provide a platform for developers of early-stage technologies (e.g., academic, and industrial researchers), to get familiar with early-stage 802 activities and introduce their early-stage technologies to the 802 community.

The expected outcomes are to (a) Enable the wider IEEE 802 community to become familiar with all 802 next-gen activities and identify opportunities for cross-IEEE 802 collaboration and synergies; (b) Familiarize researchers with the 802 processes, introduce them to the IEEE 802 community; and (c) enable them to make their research more relevant to the interests of the IEEE 802 community. Ideally, some of these early-stage technologies could eventually be incorporated into a relevant IEEE 802 standard project.

The agenda includes (a) the leaders of 802 next-gen activities present on their activities (tentatively: Roger Marks on IEEE 802.1/Nendica, Jon Lewis on IEEE 802.3, Jim Lansford on IEEE 802.11, Ben Rolfe on IEEE 802.15 and Tim Godfrey on IEEE 802.24 VNA; (b) open discussion exploring collaborative next-gen opportunities across IEEE 802; (c) brainstorm with IEEE 802 participants and researchers on new next-gen topics; and (d) organize next steps to continue next-gen IEEE 802 work.
