[802.3_DIALOG] IEEE 802.3 November 2022 plenary meeting announcement

Dear Colleagues,

IEEE 802.3 will hold its November 2022 plenary session from Monday 14 November 2022 through Thursday 17 November 2022. The plenary session will be held at the Marriott Marquis Queen's Park, Bangkok, Thailand with support for mixed-mode attendance (i.e., remote attendance). Please note that the meetings are being planned around an in-person schedule, with remote access provided on a best-effort basis.

The IEEE 802.3 Working Group (WG) opening plenary meeting will begin at 10h00 ICT (03h00 UTC) on Monday 14 November 2022, and the IEEE 802.3 WG closing plenary meeting will begin at 13h00 ICT (06h00 UTC) on Thursday 17 November 2022. Please find the IEEE 802.3 Working Group opening and closing plenary meeting call information at the end of this email, I'll send calendar invitations shortly. Task Force (TF) standing committee and any appropriate ad hoc meetings will be scheduled between the opening and closing IEEE 802.3 meetings. Please always check <https://ieee802.org/3/calendar.html> for the most up-to-date information.

As always, the IEEE 802 LMSC session announcement, registration and current hotel information can be found through the 'Next IEEE 802.3 meeting notice' link <https://www.ieee802.org/3/interims/index.html>. To receive email updates and reminders for the plenary sessions, subscribe to the stds-802-ALL reflector <https://listserv.ieee.org/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=stds-802-ALL&A=1>. Payment of a registration fee is required by anyone that attends any meeting held during this plenary session. The registration website can be accessed directly at <https://cvent.me/0Vk4Qq>.

The draft agendas, as well as liaison letters received so far, are available in the minutes area <https://ieee802.org/3/minutes/nov22/index.html> and will be updated as required prior to the meeting. The agenda will be approved at the meeting.

We will gather two records of attendance: [1] the attendance tracking tool; and [2] attendance books in each meeting along with the teleconference tool attendance. The attendance tool will be the only official record of attendance for building and maintaining WG membership. The meeting attendance books along with the teleconference tool attendance will be used to record the attendance in the minutes for each meeting and it is important that you review these minutes to make sure your attendance is recorded correctly as this will be the backup should there be an issue with the attendance tool.

Attendance credit toward membership requires attendance at three of the four days of the IEEE 802.3 session, independent of how long a particular subgroup might be meeting. The attendance tracking tool will only allow sign-in on Monday at the opening IEEE 802.3 plenary and on Thursday at the closing IEEE 802.3 plenary meeting (not during the Monday afternoon or Thursday morning meetings). Several WG decisions are expected during the IEEE 802.3 meetings (most during the Thursday 17 November 2022 Closing plenary meetings). Depending on the amount of discussion, IEEE 802.3 WG meetings may run beyond their target ending times, so please plan your time accordingly.

I look forward to seeing you in Bangkok, Thailand.

IEEE P802.3df 200 Gb/s, 400 Gb/s, 800 Gb/s, and 1.6 Tb/s Ethernet Task Force
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Task Force home page: <http://ieee802.org/3/df/index.html>

The IEEE P802.3df Task Force is working on the selection of a set of baseline proposals to satisfy the project objectives, progressing towards a technically complete draft for working group ballot.

In addition, it has become apparent that a portion of the current IEEE P802.3df project would leverage existing 100 Gb/s signalling technologies developed for existing standards and projects, while the other portion of the current IEEE P802.3df project would leverage new greater than 100 Gb/s signalling technologies. It was also recognized that the development of a standard based on existing technologies would occur on a faster timeline than a standard based on the development of new signalling technologies. As a result, an IEEE P802.3df PAR modification request, and a new IEEE P802.3dj amendment PAR, are proposed to remove the portion of the project using new greater than 100 Gb/s signalling technologies from the IEEE P802.3df PAR and placed it in the new IEEE P802.3dj PAR.

The draft PARs, CSDs and objectives are pending IEEE 802.3 Working Group approval at this plenary prior to seeking approval of both the PARs and CSDs by the IEEE 802 Executive committee. The draft PARs, CSDs and objectives can be accessed as follows:

IEEE P802.3df draft PAR modification request: <https://mentor.ieee.org/802-ec/dcn/22/ec-22-0196-01-00EC-draft-ieee-p802-3df-par-modification.pdf>
