Re: [802SEC] Request to form a 802.19 Study Group

Bob,

The 802.19 TAG is not a large group (15 voters) and many members
are also members of other wireless working group which meet in parallel
with the 802.19 meeting.

I am a little unclear on you comment regarding the diversity of
Sponsor ballot since it is my understanding that the Sponsor Ballot pool
is open to anyone who is interested in signing up and I would expect a
number of members of the 802 wireless working groups to sign up for the
Sponsor Ballot.

Can you clarify your comment a little to help me understand?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve:

I think it is important to note that the small size of the vote below
indicates to me there appears to be an unacceptable problem for assuring
balance within the group developing the document, and the size of
participants does not provide confidence that the requirement for ballot
groups would be met when it went to Sponsor ballot.

Subject: [802SEC] Request to form a 802.19 Study Group

IEEE 802 Executive Committee,

The 802.19 TAG voted to form a study group to develop a PAR
and Five Criteria for either an IEEE Recommended Practice or IEEE Guide
for predicting coexistence of wireless networks.

The TAG has been developing an internal 802.19 that can be
used as a starting point for this work.

The vote in the TAG to form a study group was,

            Yes 4

            No 0

            Abstain 2

I spoke with one other voting member who was unable to
attend the 802.19 meeting but he stated he would have voted in favor if
he could have attended the meeting today and will contribute to the
project if approved.

I would like to request that the motion to form an 802.19
Study Group be placed on the Friday executive committee meeting agenda.

Regards,

Steve
