[802SEC] Fwd: [802SEC] FW: Listserv Upgrade 9 Feb. 2006

Nick-

I strongly urge you to reconsider the schedule for this upgrade.

If you do this at 6:00 PM EST it will:
         - Fall smack dab in the middle of the business afternoon on the
US/Canadian West Coast.
         - Undermine the credability of IEEE mail services as a
           world class facility.

I would suggest that you do this upgrade at a time of day when interactive
use of the lists is minimal.
My guess (based on US and European use only) is that would be after 6:00 PM
PST (9:00 PM EST).

IEEE volunteer activities operate (electronically) around the world. If
IEEE IT Services don't take that into appropriate consideration, then users
will take themselves to facilities whose operation is not East Coast-USA
centric.

Sincerely,

Geoff Thompson
Active standards volunteer since 1982
