Responses to the 802.3 venue poll have slowed to a trickle, so here are
the results. The poll request simply included the material Buzz
originally provided and asked for a direct response to me. I indicated
that comments would remain anonymous, but that I might choose to look at
NNA responses separately.
I have split the comments into two groups, those from individuals with a
North America address (as recorded in the 802.3 database), and those not
domiciled in North America. The IEEE 802.3 reflector (only used for WG
announcements) has 616 individuals subscribed.
Total responses:
76 Vancouver
17 Rome
NNA responses:
5 Vancouver
6 Rome
Comments are attached. It is quite clear to me that there is strong
support for NNA meetings within 802.3, but that cost remains an
overriding criteria.
Personally, I support Rome (my preference is not reflected in the above
totals). I don't know if evaluated during a WG meeting I would have
received a directed position, but I can't ignore an ~82% response
favoring Vancouver and therefore feel compelled to reflect my WG's
expressed opinion and vote for Vancouver. I will continue to advocate
for both NNA plenary and interim sessions in 802.3.
