Rich,

               I approve.

I agree with James on all counts (though I don't know what to do with "IMC", except to add a note that it should be expanded).

We are providing a markup of the ITU draft in order to show our proposed corrections. As members, we are as responsible as anyone else to improve the draft, so we should correct errors. If the error is in a reference to our standard, then we for sure need to correct it.

Regards,

Roger

IEEE Std 802.15.7-2011, IEEE Standard for Local and Metropolitan Area Networks--Part 15.7: Short-Range Wireless Optical Communication Using Visible Light

(also, no quotes around the title when referring to it earlier) This is the original ITU-R text, to which we are adding our edits. It would not be appropriate for us to change.

My opinion is that the original ITU-R text should be quoted intact in liaison letters.

If the title of one of our standards is quoted incorrectly then a "(sic)" should be inserted to indicate that it is not correct.

If that is done then the liaison text that we provide should explain the error and provide the correct form of theme of the title being referenced.

While preparing to send this document to our ITU-R Liaison I discovered that some of your edits are not appropriate. See the embedded notes.

Thank you.

I vote approve with the following editorial suggestions:

"1 Mbps" should be "1 Mb/s" according to SI-10 (three locations on page 5) This is the original ITU-R text, to which we are adding our edits. It would not be appropriate for us to change.

"IMC" on page 5 is used, but the acronym has not been previously expanded. This is the original ITU-R text, to which we are adding our edits. It would not be appropriate for us to change.

Page 6: "backhauling" is likely not a word.  I would think "backhaul"

would be appropriate in this location. This is the original ITU-R text, to which we are adding our edits. It would not be appropriate for us to change.

Page 7: I think the reference for 802.15.7 should be:

IEEE Std 802.15.7-2011, IEEE Standard for Local and Metropolitan Area Networks--Part 15.7: Short-Range Wireless Optical Communication Using Visible Light

(also, no quotes around the title when referring to it earlier) This is the original ITU-R text, to which we are adding our edits. It would not be appropriate for us to change.

Page 7: Bibliography item [7] is a repeat of item [3].  I don't think you need both, so I would suggest deleting [7]. Deleted.
