Re: [802SEC] 2024 March 802 Plenary Denver - Call for University Outreach participants -- Deadline February 16, 2024

Jim,

As you are teaching at the nearby college – perhaps you could provide overview to other specialties being taught.  Any high speed electrical / optical signaling might be interested in my 802.3dj project that is developing 200 Gb/s signaling and beyond to apply to 200/400/800/1600 Gb/s ethernet solutions.

Regards,

John

Hi Jon,

Thanks for this information; I am teaching the Wireless Local Area Networks class at the University of Colorado - Boulder this semester (again) and I will invite my class to attend the meeting in Denver.  I also know other professors along the front range (Univ of Colo - Colo Springs, Colo State, CU-Denver) so I will inform them; I'll cc you to make sure we aren't duplicating.  If I get enough students to respond, I may arrange for an informal place to meet and greet.

Best regards,

Jim

Move to approve the University Outreach program for March 2024:
The Outreach Student fee is USD$25 per student The program is limited to 42 Students.

I am looking to connect to the professors willing to bring students to our Outreach Program.

I would like to know by February 16, 2024.

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

University Outreach Program for Denver July 2024
The purpose of our Student Outreach program is to give students a chance to see firsthand how the Standards process works.

We realize it is like getting a drink from a fire-hose, but it does give a good first look into the process.
It is a one-day event Tuesday of the Plenary Week:

·        7:30-9:00 – sign in and get badge

·        9:00am Start with an introduction meeting with a couple of the 802 Leadership members to orient the students to what activities may be of most interest to them that day

·        10:30am (AM2) the students attend actual working meetings and can meet and participate in the discussions.

·        17:00 (5pm) Debrief: A short debrief meeting at the end of the day is provided to answer questions and help provide closure to the experience.

University Outreach logistics:

The Outreach Student fee is USD$25 per student
The program is limited to 42 Students.
Note that membership attendance credit is not granted for student activities.
The Students are invited to join for Lunch and breaks as our guests.
