Re: [STDS-802-11-TGBB] Comments on Relayed CCA

Hello all,

I uploaded Doc #342r2 to the server, which provides my feedback on the proposal.  I do believe if it is optional, there will be a significant increase in throughput when it is used (at least 2x and likely more), which may incentivize adoption.  One of the main benefits of providing real-time feedback from the AP is that the mobile STAs get the benefits CSMA/CA, and possibly CSMA/CD if they implement full-duplex.  The latter would address the hidden node problem.

Subject: Comments on Relayed CCA

Dear Nikola, Chong,

I have some remarks regarding the relayed CCA scheme proposed in doc. 11-21/0280r1. My two main problems are
  1. it ends in a desaster if it is occassionally also used in non-AP STAs.
  2. it needs full-duplex support at APs which increases complexity
My personal view is it should be optional and if used, in no way activated at non-AP STAs.

I hope these comments are helpful for you.

Best regards - Volker
