Re: [STDS-802-11-TGBI] Timeline proposal

We could call it the Randomly Changing Task Group.

Joseph,
Thanks. Ok, sorry I can't resist saying this and please take the following with a pinch of salt :-)

Let's suggest that 802.11 creates a new multi-link task (MLT) group that comprises affiliated task groups (e.g. TGbh and TGbi).

Kind regards
Stephen

PS: Perhaps this issue can be discussed in TGbi tomorrow.

Hi Stephen and Carol,

Stephen thank you for providing a timeline proposal, giving us a strawman timeline to comment on.

I have a few of thoughts to share:

  1. The proposed timeline seems to be very aggressive, when considering the “work split” between TGbh and TGbi.
  2. My understanding as to why we have two PARs is:
    1. TGbh was for a “quick” fix of the impact of random and changing MAC address on existing features and would probably have an initial WG LB in 9 months or a year.
    2. TGbi was to address “new mechanisms” that enhanced user privacy for 802.11 users, would follow TGbh time-wise, and would allow for development of “new” privacy capabilities with an initial WG LB in 18 months or 2 years.
  3. Both PARs (TGbh and TGbi) expire on 31 Dec 2025, and indicate their target completion dates are Dec 2024
  4. But my assumption was and still is that TGbh would look to complete (RevCom approval) in June or September 2024 and TGbi would target September or December 2025.

Joseph

Dear all,

I've created a timeline proposal that I would like to discuss during Friday's meeting:

Comments and crystal ball gazing are welcome.

Kind regards
