I am referring only to the downlink TX masks. Complying with the HE mask requires implementation of 256 FFT, even if you are transmitting only 64.
For AMP DL we do not transmit 256 FFT anywhere so no need to impose such requirement on the DL.
Perhaps we can further discuss during the F2F if you plan to attend.

Hi Amichai,
Thanks for your comments. No, as far as I'm aware, there was no motion passed for which 20 MHz transmit mask. My hope is that we can discuss this here.
From my notes in Explanation of the proposed changes, the transmit mask changed between the VHT and HE PHYs. That mask has stuck in every subsequent PHY. The main lobe of the HE mask actually got wider, by 1.5 MHz. As far as I can tell, the reason
is because HE introduced the 256 tone FFT within a 20 MHz span, putting the edge of the signal closer to the edge of the mask. If my understanding is correct, there are still 64 point FFT OFDM symbols in HE, and they still have to comply with the mask.
None of this I think is relevant to an UL masks, if that's your point?
Cheers,
Nelson.
Hello Nelson, and thank you for the PDT
My comment is about the transmission mask in section 40.3.11.1.2 AMP DL PPDUs in the PDT document.
It uses the transmission mask defined in 802.11-2024 for HE and not the one defined for HT.
Was there a motion passed on that?
My concern here is that HE mask usually requires implementation of 256 FFT instead of 64 FFT for HT mask. Such FFT requirement for the DL is not beneficial for AMP, while limiting deployments and implementation options.
Best Regards
Amichai
