[802.3_B10GAUTO] IEEE P802.3cy/D2.1 Greater than 10 Gb/s Electrical Automotive Ethernet Working Group 1st recirculation ballot

Dear Task Force Participants,

With this e-mail, I'd like to announce the start of the IEEE P802.3cy/D2.1
Greater than 10 Gb/s Electrical Automotive Ethernet Working Group 1st
recirculation ballot.

Open date: Tuesday 30th August 2022
Close date: Wednesday 14th September 2022 23:59 AOE

As stated in the announcement below, the ballot group for this draft is the
IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of Friday 15th July 2022. All comments
received before the close of ballot will be considered, the one limitation
however is that if you are not a member of the balloting group, and
therefore cannot cast a ballot, you cannot designate comments as TR or ER
since you cannot cast a Disapprove ballot.

Best regards,
Steve Carlson
Chair, IEEE P802.3cy Greater than 10 Gb/s Electrical Automotive Ethernet
Task Force

Subject: +++ 802.3 WG 1st RECIRCULATION BALLOT: IEEE P802.3cy Greater than
10 Gb/s Electrical Automotive Ethernet D2.1 ballot

Dear Colleagues,

This is the announcement of the electronic IEEE 802.3 Working Group 1st
recirculation ballot on the Amendment IEEE P802.3cy Greater than 10 Gb/s
Electrical Automotive Ethernet. Remember that voting, as well as attendance,
is a requirement to maintain your IEEE 802.3 member (voter) status
<http://ieee802.org/3/rules/member.html#DOT3>. Instructions for accessing
the draft, casting your ballot and submitting comments follow this
announcement. Please review the commenting instructions below to ensure you
are using the most up to date tools.

The ballot group for this draft is the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of
Friday 15th July 2022.

Because this is a recirculation ballot, YOU ONLY NEED TO CAST A BALLOT IF
YOU WISH TO CHANGE YOUR VOTE FROM THAT WHICH WAS RECORDED ON THE INITIAL
BALLOT OR LAST RECIRCULATION. If you voted previously and your vote has not
changed, the last ballot cast will be carried over to this ballot and you do
not need to cast a new ballot.

BALLOT SCOPE:
During this IEEE 802.3 Working Group 1st recirculation ballot, the scope of
the ballot is the substantive changes between IEEE P802.3cy/D2.0 and IEEE
P802.3cy/D2.1 and the unsatisfied negative comments.

CRITERIA FOR STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT:
One of the responsibilities as a balloter is to ensure that draft is
consistent with the criteria for standards development (CSD) responses which
are available at
<https://mentor.ieee.org/802-ec/dcn/20/ec-20-0094-00-ACSD-p802-3cy.pdf>. An
Approve vote indicates your agreement that the draft is consistent with the
CSD responses.

BALLOT OPEN:
Tuesday 30th August 2022

BALLOT CLOSE:
Wednesday 14th September 2022 23:59 AOE

The Project Authorization Request for this Amendment is available at
<https://ieee802.org/3/cy/P802d3cy_PAR.pdf> and includes the following:

TITLE:
Standard for Ethernet Amendment: Physical Layer Specifications and
Management Parameters for greater than 10 Gb/s Electrical Automotive
Ethernet

SCOPE OF PROJECT:
Specify additions to and appropriate modifications of IEEE Std 802.3 to add
greater than 10 Gb/s electrical Physical Layer specifications for
symmetrical and asymmetrical operation and management parameters for media
and operating conditions for applications in the automotive environment.

NEED FOR THE PROJECT:
Automotive in-vehicle networks have begun the transition from legacy
electronic architectures (domain-based) to zonal architectures using
Ethernet links to support fully autonomous operation. This has generated a
need for data rates greater than 10 Gb/s in the automotive environment. IEEE
Std 802.3 does not currently support rates greater than 10 Gb/s in the
automotive environment.

Thank you for your participation in this ballot and careful review of the
draft.
