[802.3_ISAAC] [802.3dm] Clause 201 Draft 0b updates following Austin + follow-up discussions

Dear All,

Following the Austin meeting, we had a list of more than 20 comments where we did not reach consensus. That list was shared with the group via email on January 22. Thanks to everyone who joined the follow-up discussions—this list is now down to fewer than 10 comments. Based on those discussions, the following updates have been incorporated into draft 0b.

Note: These updates apply only to the ACT proposal.

  1. Comment on Clause 201 (PMA requirements) — consolidate subclauses
To resolve the issue of sometimes referring to a PHY type and sometimes the PATH type in the PMA requirements, subclauses 201.5, 201.6, and 201.7 were combined into 201.5.
  2. Comment on Clause 98 — add auto-negotiation text
Proposed Clause 98 content in the Auto-Negotiation Priority Resolution Proposal was updated to reflect changes made by IEEE 802.3dg and was included in the draft for review.
Many thanks to William Lo for the help on the auto-negotiation text updates.
  3. Comment on Clause 201 — add limits for coupling parameters between link segments
Limits for coupling parameters between link segments were added per the Boyer–Sharma presentation in Austin.
  4. Comment on Clause 201 — remove EEE references (Clause 149 figure references)
Additional changes were made to remove EEE from the document by eliminating references to Clause 149 figures, or stating that the dashed lines/boxes in the Clause 149 figure referenced don’t apply.

Many thanks to Natalie Wienckowski  for taking the initiative on the Clause 201 edits (PMA consolidation, removing the EEE references, and related updates), and for turning the changes around on short notice.

Thank you again for your time and help.

Best regards,
Alireza
