Date: November 30, 2025 at 3:02:01 PM PST To: STDS-802-3@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [STDS-802-3] +++ 802.3 WG 2nd RECIRCULATION BALLOT: IEEE P802.3dg 100 Mb/s Long-Reach Single Pair Ethernet D2.2 ballot Reply-To: "Law, David" <dlaw@xxxxxxx> Dear Colleagues,
This is the announcement of the electronic IEEE 802.3 Working Group 2nd recirculation ballot of the amendment IEEE P802.3dg 100 Mb/s Long-Reach Single Pair Ethernet. Remember that voting, as well as attendance, is a requirement to maintain your IEEE 802.3 member (voter) status <http://ieee802.org/3/rules/member.html#DOT3>. Instructions for accessing the draft, casting your ballot and submitting comments follow this announcement. Please review the commenting instructions below to ensure you are using the most up to date tools. The ballot group for this draft is the IEEE 802.3 voting membership as of Friday 1st August 2025. Because this is a recirculation ballot, YOU ONLY NEED TO CAST A BALLOT IF YOU WISH TO CHANGE YOUR VOTE FROM THAT WHICH WAS RECORDED ON THE INITIAL BALLOT OR LAST RECIRCULATION. If you voted previously and your vote has not changed, the last ballot cast will be carried over to this ballot and you do not need to cast a new ballot. BALLOT SCOPE: During this IEEE 802.3 Working Group 2nd recirculation ballot, the scope of the ballot is the substantive changes between IEEE P802.3dg/D2.1 and IEEE P802.3dg/D2.2. There are no unsatisfied negative comments. CRITERIA FOR STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT: One of the responsibilities as a balloter is to ensure that draft is consistent with the criteria for standards development (CSD) responses which are available at <https://mentor.ieee.org/802-ec/dcn/22/ec-22-0086-00-ACSD-p802-3dg.pdf>. An Approve vote indicates your agreement that the draft is consistent with the CSD responses. BALLOT OPEN: Sunday 30th November 2025 BALLOT CLOSE: Monday 15th December 2025 23:59 AOE The Project Authorization Request for this Amendment is available at <https://www.ieee802.org/3/dg/P802d3dg_PAR.pdf> and includes the following: TITLE: Standard for Ethernet Amendment: Physical Layer Specifications and Management Parameters for 100 Mb/s Operation and Associated Power Delivery over a Single Balanced Pair of Conductors SCOPE OF PROJECT: This project will specify additions to and appropriate modifications of IEEE Std 802.3 to add 100 Mb/s Physical Layer specifications and management parameters for operation, and associated optional provision of power, using a single balanced pair of conductors. NEED FOR THE PROJECT: Applications such as those used in automation and process control industries have begun the transition of legacy networks to Ethernet. A reduced number of conductors and interface components supporting greater than 10 Mb/s Ethernet will provide a basis for an optimized solution in these applications. Growth in traffic and new applications demand greater bandwidth. IEEE Std 802.3 does not currently support greater than 10 Mb/s over a single balanced pair of conductors longer than 40 m. Thank you for your participation in this ballot and careful review of the draft.
