Steve,
At this time the group is looking at doing software simulations for define the tables.
Note, however, any test cases that get defined must be implementable by hardware simulator systems, as the test cases will be used for conformance testing of 10PASS-TS PHY’s. I think so far we’re OK in that regard.

Hi,
As Spirent has several different VDSL wireline simulator and noise impairment systems used throughout the xDSL industry, we would be happy to consider a loan of a simulator system to a test group managed by the IEEE, for a period of time, to help validate the various tables if this would be of assistance to the IEEE and development of the EFM-Copper standard.
Please refer to http://dls.spirentcom.com/Products/solutions/VDSL.htm for an overview of the VDSL simulators. In particular The DLS 8100 http://dls.spirentcom.com/Literature/Brochures/DLS8100.pdf addresses TP1 and TP2 as per the trial standard , and the DLS 5204 http://dls.spirentcom.com/Literature/Brochures/DLS5204.pdf combined with the DLS 5B19 or 5B22 VDSL noise impairment files http://dls.spirentcom.com/Literature/Brochures/DLS5Axx_DLS5Bxx.pdf may be of specific interest.
If there is interest please have have whoever is going to validate these tables contact me directly to discuss further.
