Re: [802.3_PDCC] AW: Website updated

Peter,

Many thanks for posting these minutes, and for the reminder that discussion so far on the connecter proposals was intended for clarification only, and will be fully discussed in the upcoming 11801-1 ad-hocs when the IEEE delegation can be present.

This was also reported during yesterday’s PDCC.

With regards to negative statements, or the lack off to 3Vir7_16, I think Chad summary “I hear it wasn’t universally appreciated” is reflective of the discussion, in that several experts (inc Pelufo amd Troesch) expressed that they believed that SC25 WG3 should continue with the Berlin consensus, and concerns were also raised regarding the need to revisit national committee connector selection, the use of 2pr connector for SPE, and Schmidt’s clarification that “Connector Housings” are not part of the connector interface.

I also note that Mr Fritsche, presented a counter proposal, so at very least there are 2 possible new proposals, as well as the Berlin consensus.

All of the above needs further exploration by SC25, and I do not intend to present this as conclusion of the group, only areas that our discussion so far have highlighted.

As such, I think Chad’s remark was a reasonable for the story so far, capturing that several experts already stated they preferred the Berlin resolution, and areas of concern have already been highlighted….

…… but I would most strongly echo your comments that full discussion has not yet taken place, and no-one should preclude what decisions will be taken by SC25 WG3 until they have completed their discussions.

Jim

Dear Chad and all

In the meantime, the minutes got approved and as expected, the last sentence was removed. There is nothing mentioned about negative statements or disagreement about it, only that a basic discussion on questions about the right understanding of the contributions took place. The second contribution, as mentioned before, has no official number yet. As soon as it is out, I will share it with you and PDCC. The discussion about pros and cons of each contribution for consensus building will take place only when the IEEE delegation is on board.

Best regards

Dear Chad and all

Thanks for your short feedback, which I think is not representing the discussion well. I have therefore added the draft daily minutes which come closer but include an error in the last sentence I want to be corrected and I sent it to Albrecht already, therefore ‘draft’.

There were two presentations, from which one was mine to kick off the discussion, clearly declared, that it can be only the start of the discussion but not the final solution. I have checked the IEC collaboration platform, but the other document is not yet uploaded there, and I don’t want to share a preliminary file with you and PDCC.

As the discussion was related only to questions of understanding, no one can be against one or the other proposal. This will be discussed, as agreed with Albrecht, only when the IEEE delegation is able to attend the meeting, as in the other case we would waste our time as the same discussion will take place twice.

If I get the slides of Matthias Fritsche with an official document number, I will share it with you, and you can share it with PDCC respectively with the IEEE delegation.

In case of further questions, feel free to come back to me at any time.

I wish you all successful meetings, best regards and see you soon at the upcoming timeslots according the attached approved agenda.

All, I have added agenda for today’s meeting to the public area. Additionally, I have added an expert contribution to the 11801 private area. This is a presentation the ad hoc discussed a bit in the last meeting. I’ve been informed that this was presented to SC25 WG3 yesterday, and I hear it wasn’t universally appreciated. We will spend a couple of minutes discussing the 11801 agenda with the delegation in the ad hoc meeting today.

Regards,
