RE: Draft of request to IANA

As Mike Heard pointed out, changes to the IANAifMauTypeListBits textual
convention in the IANA-MAU-MIB must be synchronized with corresponding
additions to the dot3MauType object identities, which are also described
in the IANA-MAU-MIB. The previous version of the draft request to IANA
that I distributed to this reflector (and which we reviewed at the IEEE 
802.3 plenary session) did not contain the additions to the dot3MauType 
object identities.  

The attached draft request contains my first pass at the additions to
the dot3MauType object identities. I suspect that the DESCRIPTION in the
object identities may be a subject of interest and discussion, so I
would like you to review this draft in advance of our task force interim 
meeting in January. As we agreed during the IEEE 802.3 closing plenary
meeting last Thursday, the request will not be submitted to IANA until 
after it has been reviewed and approved by the task force.

For reference, you may wish to examine Clause 14 of P802.3.1/D1.1, pages
410-411, 414-415, and 416-421, to see what is currently defined in the
relevant portions of the IANA-MAU-MIB.

request to include the corresponding additions to the
OBJECT-IDENTITY definitions registered under dot3MauType
before submitting the request.

I participated in the IETF hubmib WG back when it was active and now 
occasionally look at the IEEE 802.3.1 MIB task force email archive.

got my attention, and there is an omission.  Specifically, any time 
there is an addition to the list of types in IANAifMauTypeListBits, 
then (as stated in that TC's DESCRIPTION clause) corresponding 
additions must be made to the OBJECT-IDENTITY definitions registered 
under dot3MauType.  Those are listed at the end of the IANA-MAU-MIB.
