[802.3_DIALOG] IEEE P802.3cp Bidirectional 10 Gb/s, 25 Gb/s, and 50 Gb/s Optical Access PHYs initial Standards Association ballot results

Dear Colleagues,

The initial Standards Association ballot on the amendment IEEE P802.3cp Bidirectional 10 Gb/s, 25 Gb/s, and 50 Gb/s Optical Access PHYs closed successfully on 22nd February 2021. The ballot exceeded the required 75% for consensus to approve the draft. The March 2021 IEEE P802.3cp Task Force plenary session meetings <https://ieee802.org/3/calendar.html > will consider the 41 comments submitted and determine changes to the draft as appropriate. The availability of the comment database has already been announced on the IEEE P802.3cp Task Force reflector.

In addition, we have been informed by the IEEE-SA that due to a system issue, the sixty-day public review of IEEE P802.3cp was not initiated at the start of the initial Standards Association ballot as it should have been. This has now been rectified, the IEEE P802.3cp public review started on Saturday 27th February 2021 and will therefore close on Wednesday 28th April 2021. This, however, will not impact the timeline of the IEEE P802.3cp project.

The ballot statistics are:

  99 Voters
  81 Approve
   2 Disapprove 
   4 Abstain
  87 Ballots returned

  87% Response Rate (>= 75% required)
   4% Abstain Rate (< 30% required)
  97% Approval Rate (>= 75% required)
