Re: [STDS-802-11-TGBP] SP Request

Hi Bo,

Could you update my SP2 in SFD MAC SP SET #36 (Hui Luo) [Jul f2f] with the following text? I put a background there for hopefully keeping the Q&A short and efficient.

Thanks,

Hui

Do you agree to add the following text in the TGbp SFD --- an AMP AP specifies a parameter m and a non-AP AMP STA’s short ID that is derived from the non-AP AMP STA’s permanent ID with the starting position determined by the parameter m as an optional payload in a unicast downlink AMP frame when short ID collision happens.

  • Note 1: the above method does not apply to mono-static backscatter non-AP AMP STAs.

Reference: 11-26/1410, 11-26/0942

Background:

  1. The default short ID is, e.g., the LSBxx of STA’s permanent ID (xx = 12 or 16, TBD)
  2. AP detects short ID collision from an inventory/discovery protocol, from which AP learns the STA’s permanent IDs.
  3. AP uses the default short ID as destination local address in unicast downlink frames.
  4. Two or more STAs with the same default short ID receive the frame. They decode the optional payload and finds which STA is the recipient. Only one STA will reply and accept the new short ID.
  5. That STA may lose the power and result in collision again, and the AP can include this optional payload in unicast downlink frames with the default short ID as the destination local address to that STA whenever needed.
  6. The optional payload size (m + new short ID) is smaller than an assignment method “permanent ID + new short ID”.

Subject: RE: [STDS-802-11-TGBP] SP Request

Hi Bo,

Could you update “SP 1, 2 in SFD MAC SP SET #36 (Hui Luo) [Jul f2f]”’ based on the following text?

SP1 is split into the following simple SPs

SP1-1: Do you agree to add the following text in the TGbp SFD --- 802.11bp shall define an AMP security profile (a set of coherent security parameters such as CCMP-128, 128-bit TK, etc., details TBD) that supports authentication and encryption for secure AMP communication?

Note: This does not apply to mono-static backscatter non-AP AMP STAs.

Reference: 11-26/1154, 11-26/0955

SP1-2: Do you agree to add the following text in the TGbp SFD --- 802.11bp shall define an AMP security profile “reserved for future”, such that the AMP security protocol can be expanded?

Note: This does not apply to mono-static backscatter non-AP AMP STAs.

Reference: 11-26/1154, 11-26/0955

SP1-3: Do you agree to add the following text in the TGbp SFD --- 802.11bp shall specify an expandable AMP security protocol that a non-AP AMP STA indicates its security profile to an AMP AP, such that the AMP AP can carry out secure AMP communication with the non-AP AMP STA using the security parameters specified in the security profile.

Note: This does not apply to mono-static backscatter non-AP AMP STAs.

Reference: 11-26/1154, 11-26/0955

SP1-4: Do you agree to add the following text in the TGbp SFD --- 802.11bp shall specify an expandable AMP security protocol that an AMP AP may indicate its security profile(s) such that a non-AP AMP STA implementing more than one security profile can choose the best matched security profile with the AMP AP.

Note: This does not apply to mono-static backscatter non-AP AMP STAs.

Reference: 11-26/1154, 11-26/0955

SP2 is updated to the following form ---

SP: Do you agree to add the following text in the TGbp SFD --- 802.11bp shall specify a method for an AMP AP to assign a short ID to a non-AP AMP STA by including a small parameter in downlink frames for deriving the short ID from the non-AP AMP STA’s permanent ID, where the non-AP AMP STA does not have persistent memory.

Note: This does not apply to mono-static backscatter non-AP AMP STAs.

Reference: 11-26/1410, 11-26/0942

Thanks,
