Re: [STDS-802-11] Unified Channel Model (UCM) TIG: Call for the Nomination of Vice Chair(s)/Editor(s)/Secretary

--- This message came from the IEEE 802.11 Working Group Reflector ---

Dear Volker and 802.11 members,

Congratulation to Volker for being UCM TIG Chair!

I nominate myself as an Editor for the UCM TIG. I have participated in the 802.11WG standardization work for 11 years, particularly on 802.11ax/ay/bn/bq.

I also have extensive research on wireless channel models, including the IEEE 802.11ac/ax/be Sub-7GHz channel model, the 11ay mmW Qausi-Deterministic Channel Model, WINNER, the Quadriga Channel Model, and the 3GPP 38.901 model. I have experience on the implementation of the channel models and conducting link-level and system-level simulations based on them.

In my research and performance evaluation of 802.11 systems, I have a deep understanding of the PHY and MAC's requirement on physical channel modeling. As a PhD in wireless communications, I have also extensively exploration on MIMO system and channel. I have channel measurement experience since my PhD study.

I strongly support UCM's research on next-generation channel models. I believe that spatially consistent channel models will unlock new technological opportunities for current and future 802.11 generations. More realistic channel models will help 802.11 to achieve better performance in the challenging practical scenarios. I would like to contribute and work for the group's research reports and deliverables with my experience and effort, if I could become an Editor for the UCM TIG! Thank you!

Best Regards

Yanchun Li

Dear 802.11 participants,

With this second email, I am calling for the nomination of Vice Chair(s), Editor(s) of the report (or parts in it) and a Recording Secretary for the UCM TIG.

Please, reply to this email with a self-nomination, or the nomination of a colleague, including a short introduction of the candidate. There will be an opportunity to introduce all candidates to the group with Q&A.

If there is an issue or you have any concern, please, contact me. I am happy to help you.

Best regards,
Volker

Dear Members,

At the July session we approved the formation of the Unified Channel Model (UCM) TIG. I have appointed Volker Jungnickel as the chair of this TIG.

The UCM TIG charter is to discuss use cases and requirements, develop a Unified Channel Model (UCM) and enable performance comparison of proposals for multilink operation (MLO) across sub‑7GHz / mm-wave / optical bands. The goal of the UCM TIG is to deliver a channel model that is spatially consistent across sub-7 GHz / mm-wave / optical bands, builds on already available and verified models, can be implemented using open software, and is well documented.

At the September session, the UCM TIG will meet

Tue EVE

Thu AM2

I understand that Volker already has a number of presentations lined up.

-Robert
