[STDS-802-16] 802 EC Review of New Zealand Consultation input

The IEEE 802 EC is currently reviewing, through Aug 2, an 802.18 document for submittal in a New Zealand Consultation.

The announcement from Mike Lynch is below. To find the document, see <http://ieee802.org/secmail/msg08423.html>.

The document is OK with me (apart from minor editorial issues), and I suspect that IEEE 802.16 members would support it. However, if you have concerns, please bring them to my attention by Aug 1 AOE.

Roger

Subject: [802SEC] ***SEC Five Day Review*** Response to New Zealand Consultation "Spectrum Allocations for BWA - A Discussion Paper"

Dear SEC Members,

Attached is a document that the RR-TAG proposes to file with the New
Zealand regulator - the Ministry of Economic Development. This is in
response to their consultation titled "Spectrum Allocations for
Broadband Wireless Access - A Discussion Paper". The full New Zealand
consultation is available on the RR-TAG web site in the July meeting
documents. The title of the consultation document is
"bwa-discussion.pdf". The Ministry is proposing the reuse of the 2.3 GHz
frequency band for BWA. There will be frequency blocks for both licensed
and "licensed light" use.

During the San Diego meeting a representative of the New Zealand
regulator participated in the RR-TAG discussions. This document
provides, for the formal record, the substance of those discussions. New
Zealand, like the U.K., has become a reasonably frequent participant in
the RR-TAG.

The RR-TAG web site can be accessed here:
http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/802/18/

The RR-TAG approved this response during the San Diego meeting but
editing was not completed in time to submit to the EC closing plenary.

The response needs to be filed by COB 4 August New Zealand time.

I propose that the EC review closes on 2 August and that the response be
filed with the Ministry on 3 August.

Regards,

Mike
