Re: [802.3_OMEGA] Baseline test for IEEE 802.3cz PMD/MDI

Dear Steve,

I'm sorry for my past due comment, but if you could accept it, it would be very grateful.

There are two points in my comments.
One is addition of two channel distance categories, "short" and "long"
"short" represents the channel for passenger vehicle and "long" represents the channel for commercial vehicle.
In automotive application, different from the cabling inside a building, the channel distance can be separated into small passenger vehicle category and large commercial vehicle category. Separating the channel distance into two categories can provide OEM more options.

The other is consideration about operational wave length. As Ogura san (PETRA) proposed, we should have three wave length options.

My presentation includes the proposal about the amendments of  table 300 - 7, 10, and 14.

Thank you for your kind cooperation.

kind regards,
Takehiro Hayashi

2021年2月24日(水) 0:50 Swanson, Steven E <SwansonSE@xxxxxxxxxxx>:

All,

On the IEEE 802.3cz call today, I provided a contribution on baseline text for the PMD/MDI (attached). I would like to make a motion to adopt this text as part of the baseline text at our next interim meeting as we move to D1.0.

The purpose of this note is twofold:

  1. Can I ask you to review the contribution and let me know if you have any comments to improve the text?
  2. Can I ask you to review the contribution and let me know if I can add you as a supporter for the contribution?

I would like to get your input prior to Friday, March 5 so I can make any necessary changes and submit for consideration by IEEE 802.3cz at our March 16 interim meeting.

Thanks,

Steve
